Online degrees are diplomas that are given in colleges and universities for online studying. In some cases this term includes high school diplomas and non – degree certificate programs. It can be earned primarily or entirely through the use of an Internet – connected computer rather than attending college in a traditional campus setting. Both the increasing of use of the Internet worldwide and improvements in technology and also the need for people to have flexible schools schedules while they are working have led to the proliferation of online colleges. Degrees that are given in college or university are useful and helpful to all the students. They all want to make a professional career and to find a good job. That’s why they have to pass a number of exams during their students and to have excellent marks if they want degree. Online degrees are now available in many colleges and universities that offer distance learning. Online degrees

In all colleges and universities with online studying students get online degrees after the end of the studying. Online education enables individuals living with physical disabilities, busy full –time employees. The perception of the quality of online degrees compared to on – campus degrees varies. While most of major online colleges are regionally accredited, the public estimation of their quality is in dispute. A national survey of hiring representatives showed that a preference toward on-campus degrees exists. Hiring executives in some instances were unwilling to consider applicants with an online degree. Some experts argue that degrees in certain fields are more accepted online than in others while some programs are less suited for online –only schools. A survey by The Distance Education and Training Council found that 100 % of employers who responded felt that distance education program graduates performed better on the job as a result of their degree in comparison with their previous performance. In addition to this employers also felt that an employee receiving a distance education degree compared favorably, in terms of knowledge learned, to someone who has resident degree. In January 2007, on the other hand, The Chronicle of Higher education reported on a Vault Inc. survey that found 55 of employers preferred traditional degrees to online degrees. However, forty –one percent of them said that would give “equal consideration to both types of degrees”. In some instances online degrees may be effectively indistinguishable from a degree that is earned in a campus – based program. The institution is more often exactly the same with the online degree containing no special designation. An example of this is the degree offered to the students in Columbia University. There they earn a degree through Columbia Video Network versus the campus – based program. The professors, home works and tests are identical to that on – campus students.
